If you are talking about the Avast one, it runs off of pressure. You plug the relay box into an outlet. The light on the relay box will be green which means the outlet on the box has power and the pump would be on. Place the pressure tube in the holder and place it in the tank/sump, once your water level is where it should be move the sensor tube slowly into the water. Once the pressure builds in the tube the relay will trip and the outlet will turn off, when it turns off leave it there. Now when the pressure drops the outlet on the relay box will turn on. Now plug what ever pump you want to use into the outlet on the relay box.

How many gallons is your tank?
Tunze Osmolator Nano 3152
Auto Top Off $104.99

ohhhh okay so the power is completely off until there is no pressure in the tube, which then turns on the power which activates the pump. thank you:D and my tank is a 55 gal, what makes the ato for a nano?

edit: how is the pressure sensor powered? i dont see where the plug is?

+1 JBJ ATO, mine works perfect. also have heard great things about the tunze

That DIY is very dangerous.
Tunze Osmolator uses an infrared sensor to monitor water level, very accurate.

do you think that the tunze nano ato would be fine if i put it under my 55 gal?

I dont see any issue with that.

I think you officially have over 6-7 votes for the Tunze, lol. I'm considering one myself.

"Why the nano, not the full size one? Isn't the nano use single float vs optic/float? "
Cost see earlier posts. It also includes the pump.
Yes it has a single float which is less safe than the optic/float but it has a timeout feature.

The manual is here (Bottom of page)

It can work for a 55 gallon. From my reading of the manual (Page 27)
It runs the pump for 3 minutes when set for 55 gallon range and will stop if switch still indicates water needs to be added.
You would then have to manually reset.
