Tank crash, what is it to you and what can help avoid this issue?

I just meant that overheating is more of a concern than under heating. With a good controller in the equation 10 heaters would be fine.

Still not as bad as my first tank. Don't remember what happen to it. Lol
Good luck with the treatment.

I'd like to think my tank isn't doing bad at all. Your first tank looks great aside from the slight algae issue lol. Maybe that was the look you were going for?

One of my best purchases was the RKL. Not a huge investment (as compared to the apex) and with one PC4, ATO switch, and SL1 am able to do the following:

- View my temperature.
- View Ph
- Auto top off with RODI
- Control three sets of lights; (1) 2 bulb fixture, (2) 2 bulb fixture, (3) Moonlights.

Nothing super fancy. All I do is simply feed my tank and do maintenance. For a $100+ you can go with the Apex and get more bells and whistles. If I had to do it over I would have went Apex. But that is just because I'm a computer nerd.

Oh wow nemodan. What is the main feature or most important feature of this that makes a controller like this so worth having?

- controls temperature turns heaters off
- chiller
- fan
- lights
- multiple timers - can do dosing (betrer to have a separate dosing timer, see ATO below)
- can do PH
- Can do ATO (better to get a separate ATO - if the RKL fails, you don't want everything to fail)
- wave maker - has two channels, can go as low as 1 second on/off per channel.
- can put everything on standby

If power goes out, it remembers everything.

The RKL works great. I have two.

That's one thing I don't have is a chiller.... Maybe something to consider before next summer.

As for the controller, will it work with my korrila power heads?

I would like the ph probe and salinity probe.

Maybe I'll add this controller to my last minute Xmas gift. Now the life comes with the 4 outlets? They don't show the outlets on that link.

I have 3 lights I want to control on different timings. I want my 12ks and my 453 actinics to be on for 8 hours during the day, then I want just the 12ks to shut off and have the 453 acts stay on 2 hours before the 12ks and 2 hours after. For the 3rd setting I want my fuge light to come on at night opposite my 12k day lights

It will wprk with Koralias. However, because they don't draw a lot of power you might have to have on on channel 1 and one on channel 4. It is not a controller issue, just the way it was designed. The Koralia "issue" can be found online.

The lite comes with temp prove, 4 outlets and the controller.

For PH and Salinity you will nees the SLI (I think that is the name) and I don't know if that can be added to the RKL LITE or if yoi have to buy the more expenaive one.

You can add ALL the modules to the RKL. The main difference with his expensive brother, the RK net, is that you have a limit of 4 modules per controller and .......i belive id how interacts with the computer..

I have 5 RKL with different modules on each tank based on needs.

The RKL comes with a PC4 (strip with 4 plugs). Sooner you will find that you need more plugs. So I will suggest think before buying how many plugs you need and order all together to take advantage of free shipping.

A PC4 average price is around $86

Ohhhh so you can add more strips to one controller and it has enough memory or what not to program 8 outlets even though it's lite?

It can program 16 different outlets. The way it wotks, the LCD screen lets you choose which PC4 you want, and then you select the outlet. Then you program that outlet and you are done.

Nice!!!!!! This will definately benefit me!!!! I can have a back up heater, run all my lights on exclusive timing, try out the cool intermittent power head feature! This is quite exciting. I will definately get the ph probe and salinity probe. I wander if I can add the wifi/net option to the life down the road or if I will have to dish out the $300 right away.... Phone app monitoring the tank and alerts sounds beneficial while at work

If you want in the future upgrade to the RK Net, you send the controller of the RKL to Digital Aquatic as part of the payment for the RK net controller. Look for "upgrade" on the site I pasted before. You will find how much DA pays for your used RKL controller in exchange of the RK Net controller. The RK Net controller alone is much cheaper than when you buy the full RK Net, because you are not paying for the modules that come with it. Remember that ALL the modules of Digital Aquatic that you have with your RKL will work with the RK Net controller.
