How do you guys and gals level your tanks when they are on a hard floor like tile? I know you level the stand and not the tank, and I know you don't do it when the tank is full. Do you use wedges? don't they look bad and not distribute the weight evenly enough? If you do use wedges, how far apart do you place them?

Tank is a 90gal on a tile floor. It is leaning away from the wall and will need to be corrected by about 1/4 inch.

Thanks for your help,
Doug

shims? i use 2 decks of cards to level my video equipment. luckily guests cant see any of it.

I don't think cards or a cement slab is going to work in my kitchen, but thanks. :)

I use shims and stain them the color of the stand. I only place them on the corners and where there are supporting members on the stand.
Center brace front and Back of the tank where the ends of the openings are.

If you can put a piece of trim along the bottom that would hide the gaps and the shims. Even just a piece of 1/2" quater round would hide the gap.

Thanks, Good advise.

I was considering using strips of indoor/outdoor carpeting that would carry the load more evenly, but don't want it to hold water either.

I use the Leprechaun that I caught in the forest last year. He complains alot but it is worth it... Still refuses to point me to the pot of gold...that A-hole.:D :D :D

I've used the feet that screw in and out in the past with no problems. You have to be able to tip the stand over to install them though. Not sure if your tank is full or not. Only use them where the tank is actually being supported as Greg said. I definately wouldn't use carpet or anything that will absorb water. You will regret it down the line after it has gotten wet a few times. It will probably level out eventually leaving your tank unlevel again any way.

You may try solid material to match the stand. Lowes & home depot sell
1/4 X ? Lengths of oak & maple also pine. Stain or paint to match the stand. Run the entire face length of the stand. This is assuming your tank is 1/4 out as stated above

Everyone sells a composite fibre shim. They are like reagular shims but will not rot or swell.Best part about them is once you position it the excess snaps rigth off with ease.Put them ubder about 1/2"+- and you wont see them.
