Testing Kits....

Wondering if anyone had specific testing kits they like more than any others (or any ones that you do not think are worth their salt)

I think you'll find a lot of varied answers here. I think a lot of people will agree that if you use more than one test kit for the same thing it's better than using just one because you can get more of an average and you can eliminate the crazy high out of wack results...

i have found the elos kits to be decent as far as i can tell.
The mg test is a little complex.

Salifert used to be a good test kit but they have had quality control issues and their company has not confirmed that the issue is resolved yet so i would avoid those until we get word that they are good again.

API get fairly decent reviews for a lower cost kit that is fairly simple and covers the major parameters.

Stay away from Red Sea test kits.

We use as many of the different ELOS test kits as we can get our hands on (Ca, Mg, Kh, PO4, pH). We prefer the ELOS as it seems we get more accurate numbers for our water parameters.

We use TetraTest kits for our NH3, NO2, and NO3. We are seriously considering moving towards the ELOS NO3 kit soon.

Another Elos user here, we use them for CA, AlK, Mag and NO3. My only complaint with Elos is they seem to be retarded when it comes to getting all the correct instructions in the box. I have seen a few of the new CA kits friends have bought have the old directions in them.

I used to use Salifert but stopped when I heard of there accuracy issues. Another reason that drove me away from them was that fact that the ALK kit involved 20 bizzlion syringes.
