TF 1000 upgrade to ocean runner 2700

Has anyone here upgraded their Turboflotor to an Ocean Runner 2700? I bought a Ocean Runner 2500 in brand new condition off of Ebay for $31.00. Through my good fortune it arrived and had the needlewheel impeller...Thats another $15-20 saved. Well my first attemp at making a venturi for it failed miserably. But I did find out that this thing runs strong...Even pulling the plugs on the TF 1000 still caused the water level to run at 1/2 to 3/4 of the way up the collection spout. How do I bring the flow level down? Gate valve? Thats all I could think of, maybe put a valve on it and bleed it off....Though that latter doesn't sound like a good solution.

Also did find that the ocean runner 2700 runs cooler than the aquabee 300 it is to replace. Also for those with limited sump space you might want to measure for the ocean runner before you commit to buying it. It is considerably larger than the aquabee...Had to take the dremel to the acrylic sump an mod it so it would fit....

Any help is appreciated

TIA
Rick

Mine runs with a OR 2700 (which is just a OR 2500 with NW impeller). Thats just the way I got it, so I'm not sure how it runs in comparison to the Aqua Bee.

That being said, if these things dont get enough air, they run really high. How far underwater is the pump?

If I even slightly block the airline, mine overflows.

The pump is probably in 8'' of water...Do I need to go deeper or shallower. I hooked an air pump to it to test the NW. Worked like a charm...I willprobably tackle the venturi REV B next weekend, when I have some more time...

The closer to the surface you put the pump, the less head pressure the venturi is working against, and the more air it will pull in.

Mine has to have the valves both about 2/3 - 3/4 shut, or I get really really wet skimmate (IE full cup of tea colored stuff overnight). The pump is submerged in mine so the top of it is 2-3" below the surface.
