the water is flowing...

Mad Reefer

Hi all

I think Ive got it figured out now...My quest to be Cyano free is almost a reality. I have a Mag5 for a return ( 4 foot head height ) , and two Maxijet 1200's in the tank now ( 30 long )(20 long sump ). Cyano is all but gone and Im due for a water change.
My question is ... Is this too much flow for the tank? For the fish? for the corals? Everything looks good :) Is even more flow required? I dont want it to look like a washing machine either....:)

2 Perc Clowns ............. Mostly softies and poyps
2 Blue Chromis ............. 1 Hairy Acropora
1 Goby ............. 1 Digi
1 Royal Gamma ............. 1 small Condylactis (sp)
2 Cleaner shrimp
1 Coral Banded
All small right now

Naw, thats not too much flow.

Watch out with that Condy. Theyre from the atlantic, and clowns are from the pacific. Sometimes theyre fine, sometimes they eat clowns.

flow is good.

Hi:

That is too little flow for a healthy 30 gallon long reef tank. May be you should consider a Seio 820 pump (820 gallon per hour) in addition to the two maxijet. Two Maxijet 1200 give you 600 gallon per hour but their flow pattern is narrow.
