toadstole has red things on

so i was looken at my toadstole was not open today and i noticed red spots on it around 10 i thought it was alage so i tried to wave it off with my hand no dice to i took my plastic rod and tried to move the red off and the red things moved around =( 5 blew away my hairry mushrrom has tons of these on it thought it was the hairy tenticles deflated guess not any idea what it is could it be red flatworms ? some one help thanks i guess i got some more bugs from the ffm just never ends

Could be some little specks of cyano or something along those lines. If they are flatworms you should be able to see them moving if you watch closely for a while.

Has that toadstool shed before? It looks like it might be getting ready to shed.

it shed the 2nd day after i got it wich was couple weeks ago was doing great until today i also thought was cyano but the red things move but only when u touch them and its weird the polpys r starting to come out but there is still 2 red dots there weird

Look like flatworms to me. Can you take a turkey baster to it?

turkey baster blows them off i took a net and riged it to a tube and i sucked them off the toadstole so they not blowing around in the water ive just read about using the flatworm extract im kind of worried about nuking my tank when the flat worms die tho i see atleast 25 on the hairy mushroom got them off the toadstole tho and i havent seen them on anything else in my tank yet

well after straing at my tank for 30 mins straight ivee seen them on other frags aslo guess im in deeper than i thought i was should i do the flat worm extract? ill go get it if so

Make sure that's really what you are seeing. Try your best to describe them in words? Also try doing a google image search for flat worms and see if some of the pics resemble what you're seeing. If they are flat worms, you should be able to see them slowly sliding across whatever they are on.

If those are flatworms, they are the deepest, darkest red colored ones I've ever seen. Usually red FWs are more of a rust color.

i did a google search before i posted this and came up with the flat worms they sure do move some well the litle ones do but the big ones dont move until u touch them the ones on the mushroom r almost 1/4 and look rust color and they consume food also i watched on swallow a fish pellet and it has it inside it just my luck i got more pest in this damn tank then i ever had in my 10 years in my last tank should have never sold it =(

got a better pic today these guys seem to be comming from the hairy mushroom i can get them off the toad stole no problem by sucken them up but any idead how do get of the mushroom i tried turkey baster got one off the others cling on or run

If you have 1, your probably have 1,000 is what they say so don't underestimate it.

Natural control is/are wrasses and a lot of people use FWE followed by heavy carbon and a water change.

You're not going to be able to spot remove them and get them under control.

I had them a while back on my 28 and I siphoned as many out as i could, dosed the FWE and did a 30% WC.....followed by fresh CPE and that did a great job.

Read up on the FWE though, some people have had different experiences so it does come with some risk although IMO FWE in an otherwise healthy/clean tank is not an issue....usually something else is at hand when they run into complications.

i did lots of reading on the fwe yesturdayy just wanted to make sure i was right about them being fw i seen tons of pics and compaired to mine love to get a wrasses but 20gl i think is to small tank is litle over 2 months old hope i dont have many so ill go get some fwe and go that route i read some story of people nuken there tank with haven a giant fw pop i dont see many in mine but like u said there could be a 1000+ u really never no thanks for the help ill post the out come when i do the fwe

Pull out a piece of your rock and put in a small container and add FWE......if they are flatworms (which they are) then you will see them starting to squiggle and run for the hills!
