Torch Coral Question...

smcnally

Tankless
Is there such a thing as too much flow for a torch? I was told they like low flow. But, mine gets wipped around from flow (looks beautiful actually) and is fully extended while doing so. Seems like it likes it. Should I leave it be?

ive heard that they like alot of flow but what will happen is that they become hyper extended and the tentacles detach. When detached they roam the tank and become super killer torch tentacles that DESTROY EVERYTHING! Thats why everyone tells you to be careful and keep them in low current or else...THE KILLER TENTACLES ATTACK!!!!!

they will create large sweeper tentacles in higher flow. the sweeper tentacles which generally only come out at night, have a very potent nemocyst on the end of them and basically clear the area around the torch to keep it safe. the lower the flow the smaller the sweepers tend to be....less damage to surrounding corals.

mine is kept in low flow-mainly because it wont open under high flow and if I keep it under moderate flow the thing takes up an entire city block with its tentacles whipping around. The low flow allows it to open but not stretch out to its capability.

Oh I was only joking B4 about the KILLER TOUCH TENTACLES...i was over tired from sleep depravation and shoveling.
