Tricks for feeding sun polyps...

I bought a large frag of sun polyps about a month ago. I have been trying to get their feeding schedule changed so they will be open more during the day, they currently open at around 10pm and close back up before I get up in the morning. Originally I didnt have any trouble feeding them but now that my fish are getting used to the feeding tube they come out and eat the brine right out of the sun polyps. How can I get my fish to leave them alone or is there a better trick to feeding them? I've given up on changing their feeding schedule since now I'm struggling to just get them fed. I feed my fish on the opposite side of the tank every time but this doesnt seem to keep them away when I'm trying to spot feed my corals. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You can cut a soda bottle in half and place it over the colony. Put the food in the top.

Yes... I used to use a plastic soda bottle... it works... you can also put a piece of airline under the soda bottle so you can occasionally blow bubbles to stir up the food inside/under the bottle as it doesn't always settle on the polyps.

I remove my sun corals from the main display 1 week out of every month or so and target them in my refugium.
