Tunze & Aquacontroller Question

Does anyone use a their Tunze with their Aquacontroller? I just recently set up an Aquacontroller Jr. and have been thinking about a couple of Tunze's (Thinking a 6000 & a Nanosteam). I know the 6000 can be run using its own controller. What are the benefits compared to running it using an Aquacontroller?

Also, anyone have any experience with the 6080 Tunze? What is the difference between the 6080 and the 6100? Is it only that the 6100 is controlable?

I use nanostreams with my aquacontroller. The aquacontroller uses a standard "on-off" command, which is not the best thing for Tunze pumps. The delay needs to be about 15 minutes, which really just varies the flow a bit and decreases pump life. Unless you plan to run them continuously, you would be better served buying a controllable Tunze and using their controller (ie. 6055 nano, 6100, etc.)

Neptune has been leaking out bits and pieces of info regarding an upgrade to use the AquaControllers as wave controllers for Tunzes. There's a thread on RC but really all you can do is read between the lines. No dates or specs available.

There is a thread in the Neptune forum on RC about some sort of new firmware upgrade to the aquacontroller for the Tunzes. I don't know which Tunzes they are going to work on, but apparently the upgrade is being Beta tested. Some speculated it would make the Tunze multicontroller obsolete.

yea... what he said. Smithcreek types faster than me. :(

This is true, but will probably only support their controllable pumps anyway.

I just read the thread, it looks like its in Beta testing right now. I can't wait. I guess I'll hold off on the Tunze for now. Maybe just a nanostream instead.

I use tunze with my Aquatronica and in the past with my Aquacontroller 3. I have 2 Tunze 6060's. I have them just switch on a 15 - 20 interval with no problems yet. Over 9 mnths running.

Great...I just got a tunze multicontroller...
But I do like the flashing LEDs on the multi-controller. Something my Aquacontroller don't have. :D
