Tunze skimmer pump air leak

Disassembled the pump from my Tunze skimmer - no small feat given the darn thing SCREWS INTO THE SKIMMER?!?! via threads ON THE PUMP AND SKIMMER... not via a union like any engineer with half a brain would specify.

Anyhow, it went back together exactly and now its leaking air. I replaced the o-ring in its very oversized groove - and have confirmed same 4 times now.

Suggestions?

I gotta say I've never gotten on the Tunze fanboy band wagon - every piece of Tunze equipment is a downgrade from what I had before - I just don't get it - sorry.

I think it's the terrorists that are causing me to rant///
