tunze,whats the verdict

Liam

letting it grow
I have the small tunze and it seems ok,not earth shattering but i am wondering about the bigger units like the 6100's coupled with the controller.
I know there are a few sets out there in the club that have been running a while, whats the verdict?

And before someone says Vortech, those won't work in my situation:p :)

TIA for any info.

I use them, and they seem nice, but I have nothing to compair it to. its all I have ever used.

what do you have now? 6000s?

I have the basic one,i think it is the 6060,not controllable.

I think Greg has the 6100s. Most of us have the 6000s.

greg has the 6200s I think. I have a 6000 and a 6100. I love them. Very solidly built and I would get them again. I really like the 6100. I like having to turn it down to 70% for normal use, but being able to bump it up if I want more flow for something.

They are really big and ugly though. Someday I'll look into the deco rock or something for them.

i am thinking of 2 6100's and the controller in my 150,4 foot.

I am pretty sure i could hide them

I love it. I use to have the single non-controllable one and got rid of it. I went with the kit and really do not know how I made it with the non controllable one.

Here is some info on the controller Tunze (Controller)
Currents are an energy of life in your aquarium. Turbelle® electronic circulation pumps are controlled electronically. TUNZE Aquarientechnik have developed a large range of control accessories to simulate the various current conditions in the sea.

(A) Wide-spread current - Turbelle® pumps produce a wide-spread (soft) current.

(B) Wave simulation - The maximum and minimum output as well as the pulse time of the pumps can be set easily – separately for the two channels in Multicontroller 7095, and for one channel in Multicontroller 7091.

(C) Foodtimer (7091 + 7095) - The pumps can be switched off by the push of a button. Automatic restart after 8 to 10 minutes.

(D) Operation in night mode - The output of the pumps is reduced during the night. The photo-electric cell 7094.05 required is supplied along with Multicontroller 7095. The photo-electric cell has to be ordered separately for Singlecontroller 7091.

(E) Sequential pump circuit (7095 only) - The pumps are started one after the other, which produces a swelling current. The switching time can be adjusted.

(F) Tide simulation (7095 only) - The pumps are switched on or off alternately. The switching time can be adjusted between 1 minute and 12 hours.

Manufacturer Warranty: 2 years from date of purchase.

Tunze Singlecontroller 7091
The unit is supplied with connection cable for wave simulation with Turbelle® electronic. By means of branch adapter 7092.34, two Turbelle® electronic can be operated synchronously. If photo-electric cell 7094.05 (not supplied) is connected up to the socket, the automatic operation in night mode can be activated.

I like my 6100s...but I'm not so sure about them in a 4ft tank. Would I pay for them again? I don't know. Maybe.

the tank is 31 deep,do you think too much.
Why the hesitation on buying them again joe?

tunzes are great, but you order today and who knows when they will show up. I just wish they were easier to come by. A few people we can get them from make us send in a disclaimer that says we understand that even though you pay for them now, they might not be in for up to 6mths. I haven't seen them take that long, but just seems they could do a little better on the customer service side.

Has anyone had to have one serviced, most companies service side is usually even longer then a direct sale, I don't know if that's the case or not.

I will have to try a controllable one, I used to have a 6060 and it just blew sand everywhere, so I think Scott bought it and is using it at Sea Creatures.

seems they are more of an in stock item these days.
I have the 6060 it seems like a fart in an aircraft hanger to me:D

FYI the same stream pump is used for the 6000 and 6100 systems. what changes is the transformer. So you can "convert" your 6000 system into a 6100 by only changing the transformer. Acording to Roger Vitko (Tunze), the transformer only costs a couple of bucks.

is that a diy replacement Armando,do you think i would be better with 6000's.
I was thinking i could always turn the 6100's down.

you can't convert a 6060 though can you?

i think you will have sandstorm and sand sloping problems with a 6100. You can keep it turned it down but (i think) it would use still use 90W. With the 6000 you'd need only 30W.

plus they are cheaper:)

I got the 2 6000's with the 7095 controller. The controller needed repair, I sent in the controller and the day that Roger received the controller he repaired it and set it back the same day. The best part is that the pumps still work even without the controller but you wont get any of the functions.
The other function that I liked was that the audable when one of the pumps need cleaning or is having issues.
Imp really happy with them in my 90. I do have to say that right now they are only turned up half way in interval 2 for 6 hr and pulse at 3. I tried interval 1 but it was to much for the corals as some of the tissue started to rip off so I decided to try the other functions and the corals seem to be happier.

The only down side to having it repaired is that you would have to pay for shipping.
