urchin expelling something stringy

I just did a water change to help lower alk a little (10% water change), and now the 2 longspine urchins are expelling something stringy that then dissolves in the water column. Are they spilling out their insides??

Is it white stringy stuff? If so I've seen the same thing with mine. They were fine afterward. I thought it was possibly some sort of spawning behavior?

yes, it was, and i was wondering the same thing. both of them were doing it at the same time, and one looked a little different than the other's. Perhaps I have a boy urchin and a girl urchin, and that's why it looked different.
