Any DIY instruction for replacing tank center brace with acrylic or glass? Thanks

Hi DZ6T,

I replaced my center brace some time ago on my 36 Gl Bow tank. What I simply did was cut a 2 inch piece wide of a acrylic about 10 inches long. Then I used Gorilla glue on both ends of the acrylic piece and glued that underneath the brace. To hold that in place and for additional support I used 2 Nylon screws and nuts on each end of the brace. Then I simply cut out the brace exposing the acrylic piece. I even did this process when the tank was filled with an established Reef system. Sorry no pics right now, I may find them later for you if you wish I think I still have them. Also ironically I migrated this system last year into a 54 Gl Corner tank and I love it!!!

Waoo, thanks.

Gorrila glue is a polyurethane glue.

Probably a decent choice, but even better would be West Epoxy. (it's more expensive though)

I did just as Jason describes, but with epoxy.

I didn't do it....Ekudl did. :)

Be careful will Gorilla Glue. It expands as it cures, so you need to clamp things down, and clean up before it totally hardens, or you're gonna have glue/foam all over everything.

Its really strong though...I think theres 2 bottles of it in my stand... personally, I wish I could skip the wood and just use the glue to build a stand.
