How long should I let my water mix before a water change.

Depends on the salt your using. I use tropic Marin pro and usually let it mix for about 24 hours.

I use reef Crystal's and I let it mix and heat up for 24hrs

I let it mix for a few hours with no issues. I also just test for salinity to make sure it matches the tank but I only have a small 25 gallon cube and just hardy easy corals. If I had more expensive coral or a larger tank and a fish room I'd probably let it mix overnight as well....
