well woke up this morning to devastation. .dont know what to do...

Any updates on this? Sounds very strange. Wonder if it was calc precip or something else? That's why I hand-dose and only use a controller for heater/fan because things like this scare the heck outta me.

I wish I had an answer on what caused it or exactly what it was. All I know is the doser and calc reactor are unplugged and I cleaned all the things in the display tank I could add a poly medi to the sump/fuge with a couple cheap carbon bags hanging under my supply to the sump and dosed alil mag and some liquid kent marine calcium. My tank is flipping spectacular. It has never been so clean and clear and fish look happy along with the corals all fully extended. I have learened to keep and eye on things like my toadstool, pipe organs and frogspawn if they are not fully extended and blowing around something is wrong.

That's how I judge my tank too. I assume everything is running perfect as long as all corals look good. Usually my duncans are the first to act up if something is off.

Well glad to hear the tank is doing great now! Did you manage to not lose anything?

I losy a small colony of waving hands and one 1/4" frag of a monti. But a damn turbo knocked down into the sand upside down. That could have caused that. 2out of 50 isn't bad...lol. IMG_20130328_201634.jpg

Holy crap that IS clean and clear! Lol. Nice looking good! And I don't think one single turbo could cause that mess that happened. I lose turbos in my 40g all the time, usually something will eat it before it decays much and i've seen chunks of meat floating around the tank without ever having any spikes in anything. Likely was from the doser or something kicked up a huge amount of sand somehow.

Either way glad to see it's doing so well now! And yeah two frags ain't bad. Sucks one was a monti cuz xenia is a dime a dozen, but i'm sure you can find another monti easier than a whole new set of livestock. =]
