Looking for ideas for a "species" only mangrove tank I just plumbed in and looking to thoughts beside what I have come up with which is smaller gobies...

Forgot the mention it's a 10 gallon rimless that will just have mangroves and little to no rockwork with a 2-3" sandbed.

Banggai cardinalfish would be cool, imo. The 10 might be a bit small. What's the dimensions?

Standard Aqueon 10 gallon tank. I had thought of those but think the 10 might be a little too small...

Saltwater acclimated endler guppies would be pretty cool. There are some pretty awesome colors, the repopulate themselves and they will eat lots of algae.

I like that idea too. I was also thinking of skillet fish too...

Depending on what website and data I see their recommended minimum tank size is as small as 10 gallons up to 30 gallons

I do think they'd look nice as I put a gray background and don't want anything too flashy color wise to match the brown/white look of a mangrove area...

I was trying to put in a few threadfin cardinals and have lost them (probably the clowns) and that might be an option and could maybe mix the two different cardinals...

I have a banggai and 2 clowns in a 13gal. with a few corals. I have not had any issues with the 3 of them in there. They have been in the tank about 3 years.

That's good the hear thanks! I have a single threadfin cardinal in my main tank (bought two and one was killed by the clowns I assume) and plan to try and capture him tomorrow morning to put him and the two mangroves in the new tank while I slowly acclimate the other mangroves...

Caught the lone threadfin cardinal from the main tank and put him in the Mangrove tank and threw in some rocks to give him a spot to hide until I place in a bunch more mangroves next week!

I'm curious if a pair of dragonface pipefish could work as they are "muted" in color. Only issue I could see is the lack of love rock I plan on keeping in the tank and curious how many copepods would live on the mangrove roots? There are tons of pods in the display fuge that empties into this tank so it might work...
