I've had my tank (34g Red Sea Max) for 4 months or so and have been adding corals. Often when I get them they are mounted on the frag "plugs". The question is what do people do when they get corals like this?
- take coral off plug and mount to live rock in taks
- cut off bottom of plug (post like thingy) and then just put the circular platform somewhere in tank?
- try to find spot where whole plug can be placed.

In the long run the 1st options would seem ot be the most eshtetically pleasing as it looks more natural.

Thanks

I have done both of those methods.
The first being the best choice, as it takes a while for the coral to grow over and hide the disk.
With the first method you can cut the coral off leaving a small portion on the plug. If you have a frag tank/rack , now you have a frag to sell/trade in a few months.
