I have a Berlin Turbo by Red Sea. Most people would probably not consider it in the "elite" group performance-wise but it is easy to adjust when needed and the price is reasonable. I would recommend it. My skimming needs are not that heavy duty but it serves my needs very well. In-sump style is the one I have.

here lies my problem

im cycling my tank and have about 80lbs of live rock in the tank nothing else
and my skimmer is just pulling a lot of h20 is this normal ????? i've adjusted the flow numerous of times lowered the water level risen the water level but yet i get nothing but water ????
any thoughts are appretiated thanks

Not sure of the adjustments on your particular skimmer, but I would initially check the air input, as it sounds like you must be low on air input and possibly too high on water input. How are the bubbles? Lots, none, or somewhere in between? Usually with only live rock, your skimming needs should be minimal, but how much foam you are getting is the key. It will probably be clean foam at this point, but you want to play with it to get good foam output and on the dry side as opposed to lots of water. Try to get that water input down and the air input up would be my first thoughts.

As I said above, I am not sure what the particular adjustments are on your particular skimmer. Mine has an adjustment on the pump to raise or lower the amount of water that is being input. It also has a venturi adjustment to alter the amount of air being sucked into the pump at the same time. If you have too much water in the collection cup, you need to lower the pump volume and raise the air volume so that more foam bubbles are created and less water makes it all the way into the collection cup. You are looking for a foam that is on the dry side and you want your water to be all going into the output back into your sump, not into the collection area. I would check the manual on your skimmer or download the manual online to get the specific adjustments.
