Of course there are people who love to push the envelope.
I know a guy who is keeping his LPS dominated tank at 72F and every thing are thriving. I hesitate to go that far, yet.

Fish in general do better at lower temperatures, due to higher concentration of oxygen. In the ocean, fish constantly swim through different temperatures from high 60s to low 80s.

Ive been letting the tank hit hight 77s just since the house is all opened up, but the time two switch on the AC is just about here, and then the tank should hover right around 75 or 76.

I keep my tank at 75. My LPS do great and its not too cold for my SPS. I have wondered if my next tank which will be Acro dominated should run at a higher temp though.

I probably should mention my way of heating and cooling my systems is s mini split. The unit keeps my fish room 73 degrees all year i believe I have 1000w of heaters in my 1000gallon and it just to keep it from a 1degree drop when the lights shut off..

I would feel safer at 71 then over 81. Imo its safer to go 10 degrees colder then 5 degrees warmer then the published norm of 77

I always ran at 78 as that seemed the standard but Dong gave the above explanation in a podcast and I've been running it at 76 since. Even without the benefits mentioned above, it saves on my electricity bill.
