Fish in general do better at lower temperatures, due to higher concentration of oxygen. In the ocean, fish constantly swim through different temperatures from high 60s to low 80s.Shhh agree and my Achilles hates warm water
I would feel safer at 71 then over 81. Imo its safer to go 10 degrees colder then 5 degrees warmer then the published norm of 77Of course there are people who love to push the envelope.
I know a guy who is keeping his LPS dominated tank at 72F and every thing are thriving. I hesitate to go that far, yet.
