How many of you run one on your reef tank or sps dominated tank 24/7 and have you noticed any difference between running one and not running one?

I run a pentair 40 watt continuously for ich management. Have about 25 SPS frags and mini colonies. Torches and mushrooms. Haven't noticed any difference.

I started running one to help with some dinos i had. They are all gone now, water is crystal clear and i wanted to see if anyone had any bad experience with their sps by running uv 24/7, especially with frags and growth rate. You read a lot about how it kills beneficial bacteria along with other cons but i really dont see that happening imo.

Lots of new info coming out that may eliminate uv for algae n dinos. As an older hobbyist i was tought back in the day to add bacteria occasionally, I still add it. I switch up different kinds. Capful here, capful there. Now they are beginning to look at this bacteria adding again. For all you struggling with cyano and others, try it. I've never EVER had cyanobacteria in twenty plus years. Cyano outbreaks seem to be happening on a larger scale now...hmmm Just a thought peeps. And by the way there's no shame in the game if you got a lil algae. There's algae in ocean. Its actually very normal. It means your reef is moving ahead. I don't use uv. Its one more plug...lol. And more electricity. Not sure about free swimming for ich not being able to reproduce.
