wierd skimmer question

my skimmer is putting out tons of cloudy water. Like i could empty it every ten mins. I just changed the water and all the lebels are normal. What is happening?

Sounds like you're skimming too wet to me.

Kind is a cruddy Seaclone 100 with a airstone in it.

It means that it is set to allow more skimmate to go into the cup. Without knowing what you have for a skimmer though we won't be able to tell you how to fix it.

That's part of your issue
You may just need to adjust the venturi. I don't think you have any adjustable riser tubes on that skimmer.
How long has it been running?

1 year plus
and its been good for soo long. It put out like half a collection cups worth of super dark green liquid and then all of the sudden bam tons of relitivly clear stuff.

Oh yeah no venturi only airstones, because I had to use a different power head and the venturi nozzle didn't fit.

sorry man i had one years ago and can't remember much about it did you clean it or mess with it in any way.

No the only change in my sump set up is I added more lights on the fuge. It does end up shining on the skimmer body. Could alge be building up in there? Looks the same though

Unfortunately it might be time to up grade your skimmer.

sorry to be blunt I'm stuck@ work on my iPhone. 30g oceanic cube, 10 sump 2x150w HQI ,PC atinic , skimmer,fuge, mixed reef.

i've heard lots of good things about the aqua c remoras on tanks that size. Runs with a maxi-jet 1200 too.

If you are doing an in-sump skimmer than a good one that I have used in the past is a Aqua- C urchin! I do not know much about hang ons so I will leave it up to someone who has used them in the past!
