Led's are a headache!

So i wired up the leds properly, and clean setup. Im having trouble, the blue's dont spark up but the whites do.....

I wired the whites to the blue's driver to see if the driver was good and they sparked up....i wired the blue's the blue's to the white's driver and still no spark.....i only see them light up maybe 2%......but wont blast like the whites............

Im about to just throw the towel and slap my mh back on and not deal with this lack of technology.........

AND YES I READ THE INSTRUCTIONS....
 
hey lmk if you want me to check that panel for you.....you probably have a loose connection or even a bad ground
 
Yea man i set them up exaclty how they were before....im about to pick up another led panel for my fuge....
When can u check them out....
 
ok i give up with these....going back to metal halides...................to be honest rapidled's are low quality, bulbs go out to quick, the "cool whites" make my tank look yellow, im not into these do it yourself things.......getting rid of these and buying a good quality set else where.....luckily i hung on to my medal halides.....

i had a licensed electrician come over and could not get them to come on.......
low low quality product.........for big bucks.........i think its a rip off!

Actually rapiled is just a seller for cree. Cree led's are pretty good. What drivers did you get? It might just be turned down.

If you are dumping these I need a few more led's.... Just throwing it out there.

well who ever the maker it is......they need to make there product much more better.....as the drivers im using meanwell eln-60-48d dimmable....no they're not turned down..
i have them plugged in and when i put my hand on the heatsink they sorta turn on.....i unbolted the led's from heatsink to see if there was any electrical contact with the heatsink...but no luck.....

dont get me wrong.....led's are really nice especially the blue.....wish the white was whiter..............i have my medal halides on right now and my tank looks so natural with them....only thing that kills me is my electric bill...................ouch!
 
You might have a short or loose connection (cold solder joint) somewhere in the blue led wiring. You can check it with a meter to find the problem.
 
i know the drivers are good......tested each one and they are throwing out 750mA........but not powering up led's. So i have no complain on the drivers......

How many LED's and which kind do you have on there?
 
ps, did you open the drivers up and turn down the SV2 screw before testing?
 
For whats its worth Cree Leds are some of the best available and the most common used.

It sounds like a wiring issue, most likely a soldering came loose. Try testing the connection with a battery on each link to see where the problem is.

The prolem with DIY led builds can be when moved around its easy to disconnect something. I have done this with mine several times and it can be very frustrating. But i guess if you disconnect a wire from a MH setup it wont look very nice either

They shouldn't blow with a bad connection. LED's are designed to run on low voltage and can also pulse with rapid on and off. I've had a few diff LED pods that I built on my bike that did the same thing.
 
Thats why i bougt LED fixtures started up no problem, have a warranty, look great and no Halide electric bill.

Right. But they are not designed to have an open circuit. If you have a bad connection and it is bad enough to break the circuit. POP.

Possibly true, but I have never had that happen to me. From what I was told, if you have an open circuit and it looses connection, that would be just like hitting an off button to shut them off. Although that's not good for the driver, because the driver will still be trying to send the voltage through the system and it'll have no where to go.
 
well, either way. It states right in the directions not to power the LED's until complete or suffer a blown LED. This would include a bad connection.

How many LED's is the OP using per driver? What are the models of the LEDs?

I like this idea:

Try testing the connection with a battery on each link to see where the problem is.
 
im using 96 led's and 8 mean well drivers......24 on each 6x9 panels (4), and each panel is 12 white 12 blue....i know i wired them correctly because on the bulb has a a negative and positive sign..........i thing they are xp-e's not sure......ill take a pic............
 
Yep check each led individually, 2 aa batteries will do it well. Don't look right into them they are super bright.
