You got it. LOL
close, but it's cstmpprl

Put your oder in now for Rotifers and Brine shrimp eggs. If you don't plan on committing for 6 months, I'd have to say let the system take them. Good fish food. It would be cool to see what they come out looking like.

michelle where do i get rotifiers? this is the first time i breed the eggs and i was told its almost impossible for them to hatch without proper equipment. they are in my fuge. the population in my fuge is the two clowns (mom and dad) live rock, cheato, and macroalgae. with large population of copepods and amphipods

PM sent, give me a call. Seahorsesource has everything you need. LOL
Talk to Dong dz6t he was going to be ordering things for breeding, you may be able go in on an order.

One thing I can not find yet is rotifer diet. Any idea? Thanks

seahorse source has an algea powder, you mix with water then strain it into the rotifers. They eat phyto, If your good you can get a starter cultur (Nanno from I think aquafarmers. and grow your own. I have never had luck growing live phyto.

I see, Thank you very much.

An algae paste like
Rotigrow® Plus http://www.reedmariculture.com
is the a good food for growing rotifers
Here is an example of a way to grow rotifers.

Equipment
1 ten gallon tank
1 53 micron sieve
http://www.aquaticeco.com/subcategories/2243/Plankton-Collectors
BBPC5 6" Dia, 53 microns In Stock $27.08
1 length of tubing for water changes
1 5 gallon bucket (Salt container)
Rotifer starter culture

Start
1. Mix saltwater
(Use the same salinity as clownfish are in)
Some people change salinity to maximize growth but
this complicates feeding.
2. Let salt water stand for a day mixing
3. Add about 2-3 ml of algae to saltwater
4. Add rotifers.

After culture has grown start daily rountine
1. Drain 1/3 of a tank through 53 microns sieve
2. Rinse rotifers out of sieve into another container,
3. Replace 1/3 tank water with new saltwater day old mixed
4. Add 2-3 ml of algae (if using Reed)

Weekly
Place rotifers in refrigerator
(This is culture is replaced each week)
It is used to restart the culture if it crashes.
Every two weeks restart whole rotifer culture
1 Sieve entire tank
2 Clean tank
3. Add Saltwater
4. Add Rotifers Back in
5 Add 2-3 ml of algae

Watch the clownfish eggs. They will start to look silver as their eyes develop.
This is important to know so you can time when to remove them from the tank.

Getting the eggs out of the tank is a major issue.
Many breeders just have the clownfish in a tank with a flower pot.
They lay their eggs in the flower pot which you remove to another
tank to raise.

FWIW The 1 time I tried to remove the eggs, They never hatched. I just shut off the pumps and lights, wait an hour and shine a flash light and when they come to the light I syphon them out with an air line tube.

I found the Rotigrow fouls the culture, I may have added 2 much I'm not sure. I also did not like how it had a yeasty kind of a smell.

I have been using it for algae pastes from Reed for years.
Many people use it with no issues.
It is very concentrated so if you add to much or don't
maintain the culture every day it is possible it could foul the culture.
There are different version of rotifer feeds from Reed and we
may be discussing two different products. The commercial version
is different than what is sold in stores and to hobbyist.
It is actually a good blend of healthy algaes. There are dry foods and yeast base foods
available but the lack nutritional components.
The 4" sieve at Seahorsesource looks like a better deal than the one that I listed from Aquatic Ecosystems

"FWIW The 1 time I tried to remove the eggs, They never hatched."

We move the flower pot all the time with no problems but you have to have an airstone to imitate the parents cleaning eggs.

" I just shut off the pumps and lights, wait an hour and shine a flash light and when they come to the light I syphon them out with an air line tube."

That's a good idea I was wondering how to do that. I have an fry catcher that I was going to try.
