Out Side Faucet For RODI

Hey fellow Reefers,

So my adapter for my RODI to connect to Sink Broke. I have been using my outdoor faucet as it fits. I run the line out the window so that the filters are inside only the input and output lines are outside. My question is will this effect my water production at all in this cold weather? I have no TDS meter I know... I know.....
just looking for opinions.

Thanks

lol Might make rodi work better just dont freeze it...

Colder water means less production.

do you have a washer/dryer connection in the house/apt?
If so you can buy a "Y" connector for the washing machine hose and run it off of there
I do that from my basement
Also, the further your line is from the system the less water pressure you have.
I found that out the hard way

I have been looking for an adapter. Think I could find it easy since its just a house connection to faucet. Can't find the size I need faucet is 18 mm all I can find is 17mm (5/8) made it a task this weekend to find. Will just keep looking I guess. I just need water tonight and don't feel like going out so this is the alternative. Also I use to be a little lean ent would u say on the top offs but I just 5 minutes ago installed an ato so I really wanna fill up that reservoir. So production might be a little slower and whatch out for the lines freezing. Any declinein water quality?

I hook mine up to the faucet and I use a little warm water. I can always tell when it's too warm when the piping pops off the adapter :p

Won't using warm water decrease the life of the filters? There is more minerals in hot water than cold I'm pretty sure.thats why your not supposed to use hot water for cooking.I'm not positive but something to look into...I think I'm going to do a tds reading on both hot and cold water today...

I would think you would be ok, since your in a pinch anyway

I use to do this , lol froze the RODI a few times, back when I first started the hobby

It's not that warm when I do it, maybe 60-65 degrees if I had to guess... Not much warmer than cold cold water just a little warmer so I get better production...

I have to beleive even the outdoor faucet has water that is about 50f? about what comes out of most of our faucets, with the mixing of warmer water

Thanks for the advice guys. I figured the water can't be that much colder then the cold line on the faucet in the kitchen. Still haven't really looked for the adapter today been kinda lazy. Did install a drain hole in my Skimmer collection cup though...
