Well hello Mr Murphy, haven't seen you in a while.

Yesterday evening both of my heaters failed. The main one and the backup. The apex saved me again, sounding the alarm when the temp hit 77.5. I pulled out two old glass ebo jagers and all is well until I get replacements. If I didn't have the spare ones I would have really been up the creek since it was very late.
The apex was the best reef money I ever spent. It also always pays to have spare/emergency equipment on hand. You never know when Mr Murphy is going to pay you a visit.

An apex is a controller that can run various things in our tanks like auto top offs, heaters, lights, and can read parameters in our tanks.

Sounds like an awsome piece of equipment! Where can you get them?

What type of heaters were you using?

I can't complain about the heater performance because they were both seven years old. I got my moneys worth out of them. One was a finex and the other a Won Brothers model.

ok good because i have 2x finex heaters. Glad to hear yours lasted 7 years

That's awesome.Kinda odd they crapped out at once ,especially being 2 different brands.

The backup may have failed a while ago, but with the primary working, you wouldn't know....

Sounds like the Apex has been a pretty good investment for you Paul. It's also great to have extra equipment lying around, at least that's what I keep telling myself.

A heat controller is a solid investment whether it be a full scale aqua controller or just a simple temp controller. Heater are by far the weakest link in our tanks

fail- no heat
fail- stuck on too much heat
fail- leak electricity
fail- melt and poison your tank

So yes if you can afford an Apex or the like it is a solid investment if not get something in between your heaters and a constant electrical source

Glad to hear your Situation ended in a decent Note Paul, I really need to get over and see the tank again.
