I got a Firefish Purple and Tail Spot Blenny.

The firefish is developing white spots quickly. I know the LFS just got the shipment in a day before so I have a feeling it is under a lot of stress. It is eating and swimming just like normal. Every now and then will rub against the bottom of sand.

Blenny is doing great along with all other fish ect...2clowns and 2 shrimp.

I am hoping it is just isolated and it goes away soon. My clowns when I first got them went through the same thing.

Bummer. Two things that don't apply when talking about ick; "isolated" and "go away on it's own".

Your fish may be able to tolerate it and not have the infection blow up badly enough to kill anyone soon, but it won't go away on it's own and it's never isolated to just one fish.

Read up, you will need to decide if you are going to attempt to "manage", or "eradicate". Make an educated decision on what approach you want to take and then stick to it.

you should try and quarantine that fish. see if you can catch it and set up a QT tank. Ick can spread quickly to others. you may even have an old tank and equipment to use. research the topic and see. sorry for the tough break.

Yup, I had a bad gut feeling when I knew they just got new fish in but I am more or less a risk taker. I do have a 10 gallon I can prolly set up really quickly. Last time I did this I lost all fish besides my Clowns and I am going out of town this weekend :-( bad timing

"Risk takers"don't last long in this hobby.
It only takes one fish with a parasite to devestate a tank.
You need to get a QT tank set up.IMO,when stocking a QT tank is a must.

Yup! I actaully had a QT set up 2 weeks ago and just took it down. I am beating myself up for that one now and going to get the 10G set up asap. What sucks is this was my last purchase of fish for a while to let the tank start to mature. So I just hope everything ends up ok

i would suggest qt all that fish in a hospital tank (including your lovely clown fish) and let your tank go fish less for 6 weeks before you let them go back into the tank
it's pain every day to watch a small tiny tank (qt) in the closet with a lot of fish and the display tank no fish.

haha I know this would have been the 2nd time I do this! ughh.....most of them I am afraid will die also since it didnt go so well for me the first time

Feed them. Its probably just stress from moving given what you have described. IMHE It will pass if they are otherwise healthy and they are happy in the new tank conditions. If they continue to be stressed by other fish in your tank, or less optimal conditions they will deteriorate quickly.

Yea that was what I was going to try and do. As long as he eats and swims I am going to just monitor and assume its what you said. I actually just redid my entire tank and had all tankmates in QT so its not ICK from before. I think it has to do with all the different changes he has been through including shipping store placement and now my tank. Clowns dont pick on him more or less swim along side with him. I am hoping it passes

I treated my blue tang in a qt for a month then moved it to the display it was fine for a day then the ick came back.mbeen feeding it garlic and one day it's not bad the other it gets worse. It's deff got a strong immune system and eats everything from flakes to seaweed to brine shrimp. I'm hoping it will naturally go away but I have no idea what's gonna happen. If need be I will put it back in the qt tank. The garlic extreme tends to help tho.

As always in regards to ich, I agree with everything johnk says... Proper QT is your friend in this hobby... GL...

All my fish were living with ick and surviving for a while....until they weren't ! Take them out qt them for 6-7 weeks leave dt tank fallow and re introduce them. Lower salinity in qt to 1.009 and temps in the 77-78 range. After 3-4weeks of hypo salinity slowly raise it back up to your dt levels. Do frequent wc on your qt tank also. If you don't follow these instructions you will see ick again eventually! Trust me. You may lose fish in qt tank which sucks but your dt will be ich free which is most important! Good luck
