I currently have a Nova Extreme T5 fixture over an established 40 breeder. The light fixture has a total of 234watts of power and normally runs all light for 4 hours a day with blues running from 9am to 7pm. This was my first reef tank that I am upgrading from a beginner tank. The residents in the tank are zoos, star polyps, and BTA x3 (split a few time over the past few years). I am going to be purchasing the new AI Vega Color light at the end of the month. I have been reading post about moving from T5 to LED and how to acclimate corals to the new light. I keep reading people that started at 20%,25%, 30% and 50%, increasing intensity by 5% each week. I also read people using the same acclimation but raising the light fixture a foot higher then recommended. As well as, reducing the amount of time the lights stay on. I know that the acclimation is per tank but is there a basic guide line that I can read to get a better idea where and how to start. Those of you that have gone to LEDs, please post your old fixture, current step and your acclimation process.
