Anyone else having mold problems??? Never had any issues before in my tank room.... But this year it's kinda bad.....nothing had changed in the room same tank ..... Same conditions ..... Maybe the weather ????

This winter i find alot more evaporation than last it could be the moisture in the air. #1 place people should be checking are there rodi barreles or buckets the inside walls for slim build up or mold and the pumps they use for circulation this will save you some greif on algea brakeouts later it's tough to see on the blue or black barrels so check them good that's why i switched to a white barrel and most are marked in 5 gal hash lines,I rinse my 55gal drum every 2 month hth don

I have been adding a quart to 1/2gal a day. Nothing like last year.

Don, is your white barrel light proof?

Sorry for posting again, I couldn't figure out how to quote your post if I edit my original post, but anyways....

What is your room like in terms of Temp and Humidity? Would running a dehumidifier or maybe an exhaust fan help?

I add 1/2gal on a 40 breeder with a 20gal refugium. it is all open, and the back of my furniture is 100% open, so i ahvent experienced any mold issues.

I installed a humidistat connected to a bathroom exhaust fan the only really hard part was cutting a hole through the wall so I could vent outside. I keep my room at 60% humidity it doesnt even run constantly the electric heat dries the air out somewhat too. I was very worried about having a basement fish room due to mold and mildew and all that other bad stuff but its been pretty good so far, knock on wood!
