Call me IGOR :)
Maybe I am naive or just dumb, but I never thought of taking precaution when using .03% Hydro Peroxide. I always used it in smaller quantities with no problems, but this time was a little different.
This weekend I scrubbed Bryopsis off some rocks outside the tank and then washed it with Peroxide... Oh boy, never again. I emptied a couple of H2O2 bottles I bought at Walgreens into a tray and was finishing cleaning the rocks with 100% strength .03 Peroxide for a few minutes as a last step before rinsing it and putting it back in the tank.
Well to make a long story short, my hands and finger started felling itch and weird after an hour or so... Didn't think much of it and went to sleep. Woke up in the middle of the night in pain feeling like both my hands had been run over by a truck! They were swollen and stiff; I mean I had to put an effort to make a fist and the joints in my fingers would burn and the muscles in my hand felt like they were being ripped and stretched. Like when you are at the Gym stretching and you know you can't stretch it any further.
I never had any significant reaction from any type of corals while working in the tank or fragging/scrapping corals. A few times had itchy hands and fingers, but nothing past that. So I figured I finally got poisoned with something. But the more I started thinking what could have done it, the less I thought it had anything to do with Corals.
I realized it actually felt more like a chemical burn then poison or some rash like Ivy Poison reaction or something. Both hands and finger swelled up and felt hot for almost a whole day... Apparently I exposed my bare skin/hands to the Peroxide for too long. Lesson learned, I will be wearing gloves when dipping my hands in Peroxide from now on.
I am still not using gloves for fragging or working in the tank though... What am I? A cautious person? NO WAY!!!

Disclaimer:
Don't listen to me. Always use gloves when working in your tank or handling/fragging your corals. I am just stupid...and like to Live Life on the Edge. Oh, and I always rip the "Do not Remove" tags from my matress and pillows. Caution is not my middle name!
