Calcium reactor owner tip

I had been having problems with my calcium reactor for about 6 months, where the reactor was not consistent. For the first 2 years the reactor had been working like a dream. I ordered another Milwaukee CO2 regulator thinking this was the problem. Within 2 moths the same problem was occurring. Milwaukee regulators have bad reputation so I called the vendor and explained what happened. Within a week I had another one. Withing 3 month the same thing happened again. I was adjusting the pressure valve and that fixed the problem for another 2 days. Every day or 2 I had to adjust the pressure.... Long story short I unplugged the wire going to the Milwakee bubble counter for one last check before I called to get it replaced and all of the co2 started gushing out. The heavy duty check valve coming from the reactor to the Regulator was preventing the co2 from escaping. I cleaned the valve yesterday and it now running perfectly with a low setting on the pressure valve. Just thought I would share.

You do get what you pay for... The point of the thread was to make people aware that the check valves do get stuck and its not always the regulator that is busted. I may have still had the old Milwakee regulator if it wasn't for the check valve.

People should be replacing the check valve in front of the regulator on a regular basis. So this is a good reminder.

hmmmm.....I have two Milwaukee regulators sitting in storage. They were replaced by an Aquamedic which i use for my planted tank in the office. But after using the Carbon Doser E-Regulator for my work's planted tank, I don't want to use any other lol.
