For those with bigger tanks 150gal + What do you use to dose for ALK??

I am curious what fellow reefers with larger tanks use to dose ALK. I have tried a few different things over the years..Sodium Bicarbonate, Soda Ash, Bionic Part1 & 2. I find that most clog the out take hose from my doser.

So just curious what others use.

Are you dosing alk to maintain it all or are you also using a ca reactor?

Been using BRS Soda Ash for a long time with a Profilux doser. Never had an issue with clogging.

Dosing to maintain....I do not have a calc reactor.

I use a reactor and low dose kalk at night.

Calcium Reactor

Dosing a large system is kind of expensive. Sure dosing is the best way to be able to adjust things but once you have good usage of all and calcium and such and you dial a reactor in it stays very stable

Calcium reactor also but running on a dosing pump for affluent adjustment.

Ca reactor

So.....get a calcium reactor? I have always liked that my tank setup is simple and works...never had any issues, tank looks great but maybe a reactor will make it even better? I don't have great SPS growth but they look good.

I used a ca rx and it was plug and play. I bought an aquarium plants regulator and never looked back. I ran an undersized ca rx and manually adjusted alk once a week..... Worked great. For sale btw

they are tricky at first but simple once you get the hang of them . start out with 30 mils effluent per minute and 6.5 PH inside reactor or the effluent coming out can be measured using a PH pen . be patient setting it . adjust , wait 3-4 hours , adjust again if necessary . wait , . usually takes a good week or 2 to dial them in adjusting a couple times a day measuring alk and Mag . you don't really need to measure anything but alk once its dialed in . but I do anyway . super tiny adjustment at a time a little goes a long way

I use mine tuned to the tank, meaning I do not use a controller. I just have a CA reactor, CO2 tank, and regulator. everything else is manual adjustments. takes a few days to get things dialed in but from there on out it is it just making sure you do not run out of media and CO2.

My only regret is not getting a 20lb tank. as my fill up would only be $5 more and last 4 times as long. YMMV depending on where you have it refilled/exchanged.

I have water volume closer to 150g and I dose brightwell part B for alk and part A for calcium.

I manually dose my 95 (roughly 120 total volume) with seachem powder additives. I don't have a huge amount of coral so currently only need to dose about every other day. I'm sure once the demand picks up I'll look for something more automated.
