And it will be the Dec meeting / elections. .. so as of this moment as I see it, we will have a president, treasurer, and 2 BOD at large. BOD should have 9 people. That does not put BRS in a good place. Again my bitchen about all these great ideas i see people want, wanting meetings moved, more contests, more outings, tank tours. And we don't have enough people to run the club. So if you would like a great club again, I'd say get off your asses, and join the BOD, or at least let the BOD know what you can commit to helping with. Don't just sit back and complain about the club, and the good old days. Step up, so get your intentions to run threads up so the club know who you are, and so ballots can be printed. That is all, for now any way,

One issue might be worth some discussion is the effect of distance and how it might influence a person that may be willing to help but feels they are located to far from "Boston" to be much help. I know I have thought of helping out in a small way but I'm on the Cape and much of the club functions center around the Boston area. Is there anything people like us can do? Do you want or need us?

Thank you jim, alot of the functions in the club are done over the phone or on line. . Booking meetings, running contests, running the auction, booking speakers. So listing raffle donations, just to name a few. As far as meetings being to far away, and this is not just to you, but I call crap. If you really want to go, you find the time, the BOD are not all in the same area, we drive an average of an hour for all the meeting locations. We give other areas a try, but if the turn out is not there we can't justify the cost and time.

If this is the response one gets when inquiring about helping out I can see why the club is in need.

Seriously, What, my pet peeve is when people complain about meetings being so fast away. Meetings are spread out in 4 directions. I answer your question, and my one negative comment, and this is your response. .

Any left over Halloween candy? Snickers comes to mind.

I think the right response would have been "do you live near a beach and would you like to host a meeting?" :)

Jim, any help would be greatly appreciated, and as Michelle said, plenty of things could be done by phone or computer.

He's got a point. I know you so I got how you meant that, but it could easily be taken differently.....

Guys,
Distance is nothing and should be even a factor with this time of age. With Facetime and Skype and Google hang out, you all are as close as my neighbors. If I've made our long distance with my now wife across the border worked, the 50miles we have to drive for each month club meeting is nothing. It just if you want to put in the time or not.
Although the old fashion face to face meeting with all the BODs and officers will still be great, I expect to use more modern technology to bring us closer together and get stuff done in this club. I don't care if you're in your pajama or brushing your teeth. As long as you dial in the meeting and pay attention to the issues at hand.

Just to clarify what I was asking I said nothing about meeting locations and if fact I think the club does an excellent job at spreading them out as much as possible, I did however feel it may be a different situation if one was considering volunteering a block of time each week or month at a considerable distance from Boston. It was an issue I was giving some thought to I regret asking.
