I have a sump I'm looking to install but it has a drilled hole in the return section for an external pump and I need to plug it up as it won't fit with an external pump. TIA...

I would use a small pipe with a pvc cemented on end cap. If there is room (2-3 inches) that would be a decent yet reversible fix.

Otherwise, a glass patch silicones on. Just make sure you match the glass thickness or thicker than the sump.

If it is acrylic, you would need to do acrylic solvent and an acrylic patch.

But if the bulkhead exists easiest would be the end cap piece.

I did think about the pvc cap but I'm not sure I'd have the room. My stand is really small. It's and acrylic sump so I might just patch it that way...

A piece of acrylic patch with Wieldon will work.

What dong said. Clean really well around the hole than use a piece of 1/4 to 3/8 acrylic with an extra inch around the hole. Use scigrip (weld-on) 3 or 4. I would patch on the inside but I suppose it does not matter

Or can you install a PVC plug in the inside of the bulkhead? (they make them in thrd or slp) That way you don't have to do anything permanent to the sump.

I think I might have thrown away the bulkhead already and I have extra acrylic kicking around. Didn't even think about the fact they're threaded on the inside but I'll keep that as an option...

My thumb, but I don't get out much.

You must have one big thumb

Thanks for the offer Matt I'll let you know if the acrylic method doesn't work...
