Gate valve installation - please some guidance

Hello fellow hobbyists,

Question A: Where do I need to make the cut of the PVC pipe for the drain to remove Harvey Valve and place the gate valve? Option A or Option B. I have attached a photo.

Question B. Any recommendations on what PVC glue to use? or in general what else may be needed for a strong bond?

Thank you, not a very DIY type of guy so your guidance highly valuable.

Is this regular PVC or cpvc, different cements.

Is that for a RedSea tank?

There are a couple older posts on R2R that may help.

Yes red sea reefer!

Just did this to mine..red sea e260
Here's a pic
I think it also depends on where and how your gonna run your sump.
An all purpose cement is what I used.
Wished I used a clear primer.. But had people on hand.
