I’m wanting to purchase a new phosphate test kit to compare against my Hanna checker that keeps reading 0. Even after heavy feeding, reef roids and dosing phosphate. Still reading 0.

I do run a Refugium that was thriving but lately it hasn’t been doing great. I’m thinking it’s depleted some trace elements that it needs. Contemplating taking it offline but always worried about my nitrates that are a little higher as it is..

I was just looking at the RedSea test kit. $50 just to compare it to my Hanna is a lot, but it might need to be done!

It looks like it’s $70 for the combo pack on Amazon
Salifert. It’s ok at showing 0 vs >0, but not really quantitative.

I’ve been using Salifert, it seems hard for me to match the correct shade, just to give you the heads up. I usually dont have a hard time matching tests to corresponding color. I was going to try a Hanna or Red Sea
Which Hanna checker are you using? There are three - phosphate LR, phosphate ULR, and phosphorus ULR. The last one is the most accurate.
Hanna Phosphorus ULR and Salifert when needed.

The phosphorous one is the one I have.. I have a Refugium that isn’t doing the best anymore but I feed heavy, add reef roids to my food and have been dosing 20ml’s of phosphate daily. It’s a 125 relatively low coral stocked reef..

Huh. Could your rock be soaking up the phosphate? That happened with me in the early days of my tank. How old is the tank?

I doubt it, half the rock just turned a year and the other half is just over 2 years..
