i had a couple seahorses that didn’t make it through a long trip sadly, and i agree they’re awesome. i’ve also had an angler and he was super cool too, this is a really tough choice hahaI just got seahorses Wednesday from seahorse savy and I regret not getting them sooner. They are the coolest thing I’ve ever owned! I have a male and female errectus pair in a 60 cube since their arrival everything else has been neglected lol.
That’s the other I’d like to try at some point too honestly definitely a tough choice! Either way a win!i had a couple seahorses that didn’t make it through a long trip sadly, and i agree they’re awesome. i’ve also had an angler and he was super cool too, this is a really tough choice haha
How’s the care for them & flow for the tank ?I just got seahorses Wednesday from seahorse savy and I regret not getting them sooner. They are the coolest thing I’ve ever owned! I have a male and female errectus pair in a 60 cube since their arrival everything else has been neglected lol.
My seahorse tank is a mixed reef as well so there is flow but a lot more gentle it’s the perfect place for a mushroom collection(thanks @ChrisPchef for the idea). I feed them frozen mysis twice a day tank gets dirtier than others but not terrible I do my best to keep up with weekly water changes as I do with all my tanks. I think they are a lot easier than read about online but you do need to keep in mind a few different aspects before taking the leap. They need twice a day feedings, they like cooler tank temps so you’ll most likely have to keep your house cool otherwise you might have to look into a chiller, what happens if/when you go on vacation do you have someone to come feed them twice a day, you can’t keep too fast of moving fish in the tank that will outcompete them for food, there are a lot of corals that are seahorse safe at least for the bigger errectus types but still do your research to make sure it’s safe for them. Not trying to scare anyone off just things to think of as you can’t just set up a hang on tank auto feeder(there are people that make their own refrigerated food feeders that once the food finishes pumping into the tank the line gets cleaned out with water so you don’t end up with stale food next feeding…maybe one day). Hope that helps and I didn’t ramble on too much or scare anyone off of seahorse ownership they are truly amazing!!!How’s the care for them & flow for the tank ?
Since getting into the hobby years ago I’ve always wanted an angler. I loved innapropraitereefers videos of his dwarf angler way back when.Got this neglected 55g cube where i’ve kept a buncha anemones, breeding pair of gold lightning maroon clowns and bubble algae, and i wanna go a different route. help me decide!
What are you feeding them?Update on my tank! It needs love but the fish are super cool.
Got 2 anglers and a lion. The camo one is really good at hiding in plain sight. I plan to get more anglers.
Do you have any pictures or videos ? I’m curious about it . I give them several live ghost shrimp per week. They’re def not cheap at like $0.70 each from the pet shop but I’ve also been thinking of breeding them. Many carry eggs. What are you feeding them?
