I think i have something very rare here

Joker

Viking Corals
So today I was going around my tank zapping aptasia. I move my trachyphyllia so no f aptasia gets on it and I spot something on a old dead skeleton that was exposed from a previous owner. I take the coral out thinking it's aptasia and on closer inspection I think it has spawned a baby trachyphyllia. I tried to Google this and see if there has been others but I can't find anything on it. Here's a Pic for you guys

So Cool! I know that is how fungia plates propagate, by budding babies off of dead skeleton. If that is truly what is happening here, leave it in there because fungia plates will just KEEP budding from the skeleton, and you might have a long-term source of baby corals on your hands!

Thank you. It is so cool and I hope it keeps budding more and more. I'll definitely keep this post updated as well.

How long have you had it for?
Do you think it could have had a tiny piece of tissue left that you didn’t see that started it?

I have talked with Justin credible about propagating these years ago he told me he would frag them by breaking off a tiny piece of the skeleton and had success with it. I never tried it I have always been to scared to kill it.

That is definitely really awesome and I hope that it does pop more out like a fungia.

There was no flesh at all just pure skeleton. This would be epic for our hobby if more pop up then we know how to grow them and propagate them.
