I know the Orchid and the striped dottyback have been breed to create the Indigo dottyback but has anyone had success breeding with an Orchid and a Indigo dottyback?

No experience but since the indigo dottyback is a hybrid created by two different species, they are unlikely to be able to produce offspring themselves. The vast majority of hybrids in the world are sterile. Their genomes haven’t been sequenced however, so it’s impossible to say for sure (if the striped and orchid dottybacks are similar enough, the indigo might not be sterile).

That is a good point but I would guess they are probably fertile since they seem to be for sale online all the time for reasonable prices. If they had to rely on a striped and orchid dottyback all the time to make Indigos I would think they price would be much higher.

I will have to do some research to see if I can find the answer though as it would suck to try and breed them and they are in fact infertile!
