In the planning process for the desk/stand combination and I want to put the small dorm fridge I have under the setup to store phyto and also put the phyto jar for dosing the tank in there and have the tubing run through the side (seen lots of DIY versions).
With the return fuge and dwarf seahorses tank seahorses do best with tank temps at 74. I have seen a few people who run vinyl tubing inside a small fridge as a DIY chiller and since I will have a fridge there with at least one hole in it I thought of trying to incorporate that design aspect as well since the fuge/dwarf seahorse tank would only need to go down 1-2 degrees of even that much.
I had thought of maybe splitting the return piping to one that goes directly to the tank and the other one going through the fridge and using a solenoid to control the temp as I wouldn't want to add another heater to the set up. This solenoid looks like it's all PVC and curious if anyone else has used a PVC solenoid valve with a controller to switch it on and off?
