WTB - Livestock Klir 7" roller filter

I think having 2 or 3 of these is my only path to a rollermat with my current sump. Ideally it would be the V2 unit but initially I just want V1 or V2 to see how well it fits and see if I want more than one.

Does anyone have one they are not using?? I am in southern RI but travel a bit. Let me know please!

I have a sock tray that isnt removable so i have to get something like the klir to fit in there. I just want to check the fit.

Are you selling your V1?

I bought this some time ago with the stand and never used it. I went with the Aquamaxx roller instead. Separating the 2 units seems silly, and you've said you'd prefer the V2 anyway. That being said, if you want to borrow it for testing I'm sure we can figure something out. I just don't want to get stuck with the stand by itself. I'm away for work but will be home this weekend.

I have an ice cap sump with 2 7" socks and never thought of this idea may have to look into this as well and see how it all works

I have a feeling the roll may expire quickly with these units. Comparing the roll size between the Aquamaxx (now Aquaready I think) and the Klir has a lot less fleece on it. Using multiple units is a neat idea if your sump doesn't lend itself to other approaches. I love the AF-1 rollers regardless of what name is on them. I bought a Bubblemagus roller as well, but the Af-1 units are better. The Klir looks well made, but I've never actually had it in water. I'll show you my DIY fleece cleaner when/if you come. I rinse and reuse the fleece and have great luck doing this, way better than socks!

@Spaceman I believe runs these on his setup. The last I heard he was loving them and was even trying to convince me to change to a roller.

I don't mean to throw shade at a unit I've never actually used, but I think the amount of fleece that is on the roll will determine the frequency of having to change it. There is no question in my mind that it's better than socks, but I'll point out that changing a sock is way quicker than changing a fleece roll. I travel for work and am only home on weekends, so I need something with long enough legs to last a little longer. Fleece is the way to go without question, but not all rollers are equal in my experience.

I personally didn’t take it that way, just more sharing someone currently using this setup that might be able to provide some insight.

For myself I have time so I don’t mind doing socks and it saves me paying for the rolls so more for other goodies.

I think the standout feature for this model is the fact that it fits right into the 7” sock as opposed to other models that you have to modify the sump to fit. Maybe they’ll come out with a bigger roll model that will last longer!

I agree with all above. my master plan is to use 3 units and hope that it gets me to only needing to change fleece once every month or less (I currently have to change clogged socks every 5 days).

Only bummer in that plan is that is like $900 in fleece rollers.... and socks work but take time to change/clean. so the question is if saving a few minutes once a week is worth $900.

I plan to experiment with the units, controlling them from the Apex instead of the Klir controller.

I have heard that people have used other companies fleece on these successfully. It would be awesome to find some wholesale fleece bulk hookup to keep recurring cost down.

Why not buy socks in bulk , keep a 5 gallon bucket with lid for the dirty socks that way you can clean a bunch at once

I have 3 AF-1 rollers in a 150, 100, and 40B. The quickest to use up a roll is the overfed 150 and the roll lasts at least a month if not closer to 6 weeks. Lose the socks....lol

Ive had rollers in past the roles last close to 4-6 weeks like above said but the biggest thing i liked is the water is definitely clearer in display seem like fleece rollers polish the water better and its probably do to the socks hold waste that water runs threw until changed but rollers get waste out immediately so water is consistently going threw clean fleece. I had 6 sock cleaned at all times so take out dirty ones toss in cleaned ones was easy but nothing like rollers in my opinion.

I have em in bulk. Just dont want to be hose rinsing and swapping socks every 5 days

I know what you mean. Another to keep in mind is also the levels nitrates and phosphates . I had a clarisea with a previous setup and was frequently battling because the filter roller did too good of a job and would strip them away lol

Imagine that....a filter so good you had to add some pollution to maintain levels. This is where some by-pass comes in handy as I found they can strip the water too clean as well. If you have 2 drains to the sump, let one in unfiltered. Watch your numbers get in line.....lol

This is exactly what I had to do lol. With the clarisea theres a small valve that one can open to bypass some water which helped but still had to keep it in check lol

I have played with the klir now a bit and there nice if have to use filter sock holes. I think your gonna have a tight fit. The rolls last me over a month and with my system running 2 and 4 socks I notice a difference. The v1 controller is a paper weight I cut it out and have my apex control the unit. I paid 150 each for mine new in box and also am looking for a third. Wire management is my plan ths weekend.

yeah they might not fit. thats why I wanted a loaner to check the fit. Hopefully I can get north to borrow a unit from cooper.
