Lighting...the most loaded of questions

So I'm plodding along assembling everything to kick off my 150g build (I'll start posting the build once I have all the materials in hand). I was going to run a second Noopsyche k7 pro until I could budget up for a Reefbreeders fixture next year. Welp, after holding my money for 30 days with 0 comms Noopsyche refunded me and my second light will not be arriving.

I'm at a point now where I really just need the lighting sorted and I can start standing this thing up. I do not have the $1200~ for a Meridian 35 currently, but I do happen to have some 300w LED grow panels from other activities that push a lot of light (1700umol @ 24" with one panel at 100%). That being said the blue output is strongest between 400-460nm and the light's dominant wavelength being 582.5nm.

Am I setting myself up for an absolute nightmare trying to get by on this until I can get a Meridian? I appreciate any and all input!

Are you on Facebook by chance? If so I’d look for some used units. There’s always people in and out of the hobby or upgrading their lighting looking to sell for some extra cash with plenty of life left on the lights. Also the marketplace here on the forums might have some too.

I left FB a while back, but I am going to take a look on the marketplace here in just a bit when lunch hits to see if anyone's selling any lights currently.

reach out to Champion Lighting & Supply. I know they have clearance items like last year‘s models and stuff sometimes. This was on their website. I heard these are pretty decent.

If you don't want to wait to buy one bar-style like the meridian you can always get some 80/20 frame and mount the light pucks along it. Maybe more cost effective that way, as you can add along the way. I started with 2 and added 2 more to get more spread after consulting Dong when I have the budget.

I've also heard good things about maxspect light. The razor is similar to the meridian and I definitely seen them on FBMP for half the price. I believe Dong has a few on his tank.

These are just cheap nicrew. I run them at 10% lol.
