Help me choose a skimmer

Not really because the first two skimmers that I posted are under $350 all you have to do is shop around and compare to get the best price and service.I'm going with what the majority says and i'll take in all pro's and con's its all good.

There are also some nice companies that dont get talked about nearly enough. H&S makes a skimmer that is generally much higher regarded than Deltec, and is cheaper. (A150 vs AP600)

Dutch Aquarium Systems (DAS) has a license from Deltec to make their own deltec knockoffs, uses the same pumps, and is significantly cheaper.

I still can't fine these two skimmers H&S and DAS.

I have a ASM (new) and a Euroreef skimmer (used). They both worked prefectly from the day I plugged them in. I recommend them both equally but if choosing between these , I would go by the price.

Most of these skimmers look the same I just found the Octopus NW 200 .This is what I have them down to ASM G3,Euro Reef RS135,and the Octopus NW 200.Let me ask you wich of the skimmers would you choose.

Euro Reef RS135

i am in the same boat as you, looking for a new skimmer and those are my choices also. the octopus 200 is backordered and has been forever. i think i am going to go with the octopus 150 or the octopus 150 recirc. pricewise, they are the best (except the recirc version is almost $300).

Thanks all for all of the info. I made up my mind and i'm going with the Euro. Will be putting the order in soon.

I have the same setup, a 120g tank with a 30g sump. I looked at all of the skimmers and went with the euroreef rs 135. Its working well.

H&S can be found at Finsreef.com, and DAS, you kind of have to look around for. I'm not sure who sells them right now. Their AP600 equivalent (same pump, all the same dimensions) goes for like $229 IIRC.

I am probably gonig to get rebuked for saying this but I have a Coralife Super Skimmer 65 on my 30g cube. It works great and takes out a ton of thick black gunk. It has a Rio 1100 pump with a needle wheel. The pump is rated at 382gph. They have a 125g model. I only paid $120 for it from B at AG. I could of gotten it mail order for $90 plus shipping. If I was going to do it again, looking at what was available for a sump skimmer, I would have purchased the ASM Mini. But what I have works good and suits my needs. Consider a ASM, same as Euro-Reef but less expensive.

The ASMs are NOT the same as the ERs anymore. ER has made significant improvements in their pumps in the last year, and in many cases, the equivalent ER model pulls twice the air as the ASM. Combine that with the fact that ASM has increases their prices significantly, and absolutely no one should be buying an ASM right now.
