gettin star polips to open?

BOSTONBAKEDBEAN

Just a reefer
i have several ricks with them growing great but a new 10 lb rock covered in zoe and star polips wont open the zoa and everything but the star polips have opened.
any way to convice the stars to open without hurting everything else?

star polyps

How long has this been going on. A few times my Pink Star Polyps have not opened for an entire day for no reason and then opened completely the next. I have no idea why.

well the rocks 2 weeks old to my tank. and they havent opened yet. everything else the zoe sponge ect opened imideately.

Sounds normal, GSP's often close up for several days after a tank change. Usually they just open up after a concerningly long time.

thats were im at, concerned. one area started showing slight decintergration.
if theres no solution ill frag it to try to save em. but only as a last chance.
its a huge rock i got beutifull covered in diferent zoa and star polips will be suck a shame if they dont make it. atleast the zoe are ok..

Can you try to blow it off with a turkey baster or something? Maybe they are irritated?

The flow going over them may be too slow or too fast, try adjusting it.

er i did just in case.tommy. i wasent sure if mabey they got burned by my lights. but older ones are higher n ok.

the flow should be fine theres a clam next to em so there getting enuff cause "it's" happy but there not getting blasted either.

quite the cheaklist everyone thanks for running me through.

Star Polyps often will stay closed 2-3 weeks with tank changes, don't worry about them their is no known way to kill them.

oooh i can think of a few ways hehe. J/K. i hope thats the case. waa. mabey ill frag a small piece off to see what happens.

I had a light issue earlier this week. My gsp is just starting to open, you can see the bright centers but the arm are still in. It been 6 days and they look like they may recover.

That would be my guess as well. I have GSP and when I got it it took 3 weeks for us to get it to open after a lot of thought and fiddling it was too much flow.

hmmm possibly was flow. i moved the rock witht the gsp n zoe to a higher dimmer less flow spot n within 20 min i see a few stars popin through.
sweeet thatnks folks
