July 2007 Frag Swap Thread

As usual, in the frag swap thread, please note what you're looking for and/or what you've got to trade.

Posting frags for sale here is okay, as long as you're just a hobbyist, and the frags will be at the meeting.

For new folks: a "frag" is a piece of coral. In this hobby we like to cut off pieces of coral and trade or sell them to others. We have a frag swap at the end of our monthly meetings.

To keep this thread as uncluttered as possible, if your post is not specifically about arranging a coral trade (or selling/buying), then start a new thread with the question or point. For example, if you want to know the best way to pack frags, please start a new thread.

Hopefully this frag swap thread will remain useful.

Note that if somebody starts a new thread about their frags available at the meeting (not within this thread), it will get moved to the appropriate Marketplace forum. Feel free to mention within this thread if you have a separate thread in the Coral forum.

newbie I am interested in mostly Lps not sure exactly what I am looking for. Though maybe a Long tentacle fungia , frogspawn, closed brain, open brain, or anything really interesting. Zoos are always nice too.
I have 2 small green tree coral colonies if anyone is interested in them. - Jenn

To keep this with what Moe Started, I have a 3-4? frag of Orange Digi that was given to me for free (thanks bill) This frag will be Free to any NEW MEMBER with a paid membership! You should also have a tank that can keep it (VHO?s T5?s or MH?s)

I am a paying member still waiting for it to be updated. I already have an orange digi. They are very beautiful highly recomended to other newbies.
If anyone wants 1 of my green tree corals pm me so I can be sure to bring them .

Beginner's Dream Corals!

I have some FREE items for newbies:

• Green zoas (compliments of garyl) - they are not plain - I really like them and will keep some, but I have a LOT.
• Reddish/pink mushrooms (also compliments of garyl) - I only have a few small colonies I'm willing to give up.

Soft corals for cheap:

• Leather coral (very small 1" dia) $5 ea
• Kenya Tree coral (small 2") $5 ea (med 3"+) $10 ea
• Green-based brown-haired Hairy mushrooms $5 ea

ohhh zoas don't need a lot of light right? Can i experiment with a couple, i mean like see if they would actually survive in my tank?

What do you have for light? I'm thinking as long as you don't have flourescernts you should be fine.

errrrr... then umm no, i have the stupid lights that come standard on aquariums i think, a 40 watt NO light. I do also have daylight bulbs that i can clamp on to the side of the tank. Thats how i'm currently growing my algae.

If that would do OK under 4 x 65w 50/50 pc and 2 actinic 40w N.O. placing the coral like 6 in from top of tank. I would like to have it.
