Ummm, yeah...That DIDN'T work!

Tankless
Well, my foam rock didn't hold...The silicon held up just fine, but the foam itself let go of the PVC. Guess I'll be curing some of that rock I killed to get it back in this tank:(
My hood was down when it popped so I'm lucky it didn't smash my lights.

wow that sucks al least lights dident break...how about the corals on the rock

back to the real rock now...that was looking like a real good idea too

And the nice crestron panel to the right. Good thing it didnt pop up and over...lol
Did you make a motorized hood controlled by crestron as well?
And where do you find the extra time to do this between programming. :)

I saw a thread on making the foam rock it looked great, I suppose thats what you are trying correct? They sculpted it on the glass on the back, are you making an island so you can see all around the tank?

Hi Carlo,
Yeah, my crestron system controls the hood (simple contact closure). From what I've read, people that have formed it to the glass have had the same issue. I guess it bonds really well to acrylic though, but I didn't want to do it that way in case I decided I didn't like it. Lucky for me, the hood was closed. It still splashed some water over, but if the hood was open when it happened it would have been a mess.

All I have is the sketchup drawing. It was definitely fun to build. A lot of my friends tell me I should make them to order and sell them, but I don't see that happening without a large workshop. Maybe when I get into a house someday I'll be able to make some to sell.

This doesn't appear to be your month. Hope things get for ya.

LOL, yeah I was pretty pissed when I first saw it but then it didn't really bother me once I noticed my lights didn't break. Now if I could just get this damn water to clear up so I can aquascape!:p I got the larger corals in my sump and the rock moved up top, but I can't see crap yet.

Steve, your whole tank build has been fun to read about. It's got everything. Tragedy, comedy, and sometimes both at the same time! Great job on the tank. I for one am not too sad to see the foam rock go, looked like some creature from an old Star Trek episode.:)

Bummer man. Were you there to see it blow? I'll bet it was dramatic. I wonder how high it would have gone if the hood was up! :)

Anyways, better stick with stuff that's heavier than water from here on.

The rock you put in there after this comedy looks great by the way.

Nate

Oh man that sucks! I've been following the thread on your tank build and I'm happy to say your tank looks awesome! You did a great job on the design and build, but I do have to admit that I have finally seen someone who has worst bad luck than I do!

I've seen that foam wall stuff on RC and wondered if that would happened. no wonder no more. tank build looks awesome. I like the natural look you made, much better.

Thats what you get for being an innovator

Thanks guys (except fanagle..smarta$$ ;))
Nate, I wasn't home when it happened. I would say it was turbulent though judging by the water on the floor :D
