New Fish Recommendation

I just lost my powder blue tang due to ick and am looking to add a couple more fish to my tank. I currently have 2 O. Clowns, and a Sixline Wrasse in a 72G bowfront. They don't show any sign of ick. What two fish should I add to my tank that are nice looking, hardy and doesn't catch ick easily?

Flame Angel... they are cool looking and swim all over the place like your Sixline, plus they don't get real big.... don't get Mandarin... it'll starve because of your Sixline.. :)

IMHO, I'd still wait a little while to put anything in there, because whatever you put in, whether ich prone or not, it will be stressed out when you first introduce it, thus increasing the chances for the parasites to latch on and have an effect.

Ditto.... after that get a Flame Angel :)

You now have ich in your tank, whether you wait or not, unless you empty the fish out and leave the tank fallow for 6 weeks......so waiting to put a fish you aren't going to QT into it isn't relevant in terms of ich exposure

I had a Flame Angel...it died from ick as well. :(

That's what I was thinking, waiting for awhile. I just want to get an idea of what fish to look for in the meantime. So a mandarin is out of the question? Duh.

Does anyone really know for sure that leaving a tank empty of fish will surely get rid of ick once and for all?

I had a spell of ick recently that cost me several great fish. The 2 survivors are doing well and it's been about 35 days since they have shown any signs. Ick can survive I believe for 45 days, so if you don't see it pop up for that long then I would say you can start adding fish safely.

There has been much discussion about this on the boards. There is a common school of thought that ich is always present to some degree in a SW tank, the difference is whether or not the concentrations are high enough, and the slime coat on the fish is vulnerable enough to cause a problem.

I too, have heard the timing of 45 or so days, but I believe like Jay says, that this is with ZERO fish in the tank.

QT is definitely key.

Cleaner shrimp can help but by no means are a cure for ick.I have a flame angel and he's cool but my favorite fish is my Foxface lo rabbitfish!

wait for 3-4 weeks to pass and youre sure theres no ick left in the system.

I had great success getting rid of Ich in my old 75G reeftank using Kick Ich it does not recommend using it in a reef tank but I had zero problems when I used it.

Powder blue are pretty tough fish. Ick along can't kill them. You could've either gotten a lemon or done something wrong with your setup, which is inadequate to keep an active fish.

I just picked up a small Fox Face at Sea World in Salem NH last night. They have a bunch more too. It has been picking at alergy and kind to my corals. He / she looks great with the Blue Hippo and Flame Angle in my 90 gallon reef tank. :)

So a mandarin is out of the question? Duh

( Duh ) ? Guess I'll stay out of your "fish recommendation" thread..

Sorry, I meant to type Darn...next time I should start proof-reading what I type. :)

Running a UV for a few weeks can only help as well, I'll also echo the waiting, can't hurt right?

may be you should consider taking the 6-line out before adding any fish. 6-line can harrase other fish and stress them out and lead to ich etc.
