Hey people,

Over the past couple of weeks I've noticed that my xenia looks kindof dark, and appears to be a tiny bit closed up. I haven't been able to get my water tested yet, but I do know my alk, nitrates, and salinity are fine.

Normally I'd just assume a water test would be the way to go, but it seems weird, it's as if only one group of it is being this way, when another group is fine.

Any thoughs?

thanks

Xenia tend to be good alkalinity indicators....when your alk is good they do really well, when your alk is low then not so good! My bet is your alk is a starting to drop.

my alk is about 9.5 (i have a drop test, between 9 and 10)

would you say that's good ? i just dosed again with reef carbonate tonight, it'll probably be around 10 tomorrow.

that's where I normally keep it

Xania is one of the few(maybe the only one)corals that goes thru a
die off/melt down.some clumps will be fne while other are melting away. It's normal. You still should get your water tested....most lfs will test for free.
