Interesting stuff from Reef Central

I read about halfway through that first page of the thread and kept wondering"Why?".
Why would they shop there in the first place? Why don't they just stay away(test water)?And lastly, why go on RC and complain about it?
It's not like we're all blind to the ignorance of some managers of Petco.
It's kind of like,"if you don't like what's on TV,there's the OFF button".
After all it's Petco.......Not PETA-CO
But you are right,interesting reading.

classic case of nothing better to do. :-P some people .. eveyone knows petcos arent top notch in the livestock area.. and they cant get nabbed for animal cruelty because there arent laws protecting ornamental fish .. oh well gave them something to do i guess and talk to thier little reef buddies about lol

yeah. most times i get my inverts there they have cheap inverts usually

from what I read there location limits ability to get sw stuff. and thats why they wanted to get them to improve, because they have to use them.

That tgreene guy is the type of guy that likes to start drama. I've seen it in a lot of threads where he either gets all dramatic or he picks on people. I got a chuckle when he mentioned in his letter that they shouldn't sell mushrooms because their lighting isn't sufficient for ANY corals. He also goes on and on about "ideal conditions". Most stores do not always have ideal conditions and they don't really need to because of the short time the corals/fish are in their systems. I don't agree with everything petco does, but this guy thinks his fish club is this government agency or something...who does this guy think he is??

you know what always gets me about these people.. they hoot and hollar about silly things like this and protect the animals.. but they are probably wearing clothing made by little children over seas.. and probably havent given it a second thought...

A bunch of jerks (not Petco)

I'm sure FedEx delivers to Jonesboro, AR. On the one hand I think it's noble of a club to try to educate a store, but I really think the condescending tone is counterproductive. And even if you do everything right and the store still refuses to improve, you have to realize that they're a business and the bottom line is king. So stop griping to them, and just spend your money elsewhere. If they don't want to be changed, they're not likely to do it if you continue to badger them. Hopefully that decision will hurt them in the end.

Did you see in the first letter he attached, he wrote "it is our official determination . . ." and so on. Official determination??? This guy has some kind of caligula complex. I wonder if the rest of the NEA agree with his actions, or whether some of them with he'd not use the club's name for this project.

Exactly. I think it's pretty funny.

Yea, he's way over the top. What next, condem walmart for not selling corals?

People love to jump on places like Petco, reminds me of the Tang police types, not to say they don't have problems but most are just jumping on with no personal experience.

The two Petcos closest to me are like night and day...
The one in Burlington is awful! The person working the fish room on a visit there a few months ago didn't know what a powerhead was!
The one in Woburn has a really nice fish room guy, always willing to answer my dumb questions.

The same thing with the two near me. N. Attelboro is pretty good, Seekonk, not so much.

lol...

Caligula? What depraved thing is he doing to those corals? :p

Well, I was thinking more in terms of a reef-tyrant, running amok with his clubs "official" letterhead.

But I'll admit I never payed much attention in Roman History class. :) So perhaps there's a better emperor for me to compare this nut to. Feel free to make suggestions. :)

What gets me is how in the world are they(Petco)going to tell who's from this particular Reef Club?

Knock.......knock......land shark?......no NEA Reef Club member!:D

Nate, the complex analogy is apt, esp with the god-like component of this clown's behavior. Caligula was widely known for his, err, excesses as well, that is what I was teasing about. ;)
