Canopy Venting Question

Ok so I am putting a fan in my canopy. What is the best placement for it? Should I have the fan blow into the canopy or have the fan as an exhaust and pull out the hot air and blow it outside the tank.

Right now I only have on fan but I just ordered another. So when that arrives should I do a combination of having one blow into the tank and another as an exhaust.

Thanks,
Robby

One in and one out is usually the best plan IMO.

Until you get the second one, I'd set up the single fan as an exhaust.

When using fans for ventilation like that you always want them pushing the air into the box. Just make sure you have enough openings to allow the same amount of air to naturally go back out. You will eventually ruin the fan if you set a fan up to suck out because it will get the salt residue all over it. One fan will be plenty if you just want to ventilate the canopy. If you want to aid the evaporation to cool the tank, then I would mount another fan in the canopy and aim it down at the water.

Ok I will try pushing the air into the box first. I am have some heat issues due to the new canopy and the lighting. Should I drill an opening on the opposite side with just a grill to let the air escaper straight through. Right now the whole back of my canopy is open, will that be enough area for air to escape.

Everything looks good now. I put is so that it is pushing the air into the canopy and added another 3in hole (which is the same as the fan size) with a grill over it to let air escape. My temp is staying constant again now.
